African Black Soap Shampoo: Benefits and Uses

African black soap originates from west Africa. It is made from the ash of harvested plants and dried peels.

I would like to say that not all methods work the same for everyone. We all have different hair types. Customize it to fit your needs and enjoy the benefits!

Now, for the ultimate wash day treatment!

For my daughter and I, we start with a pre-poo comb through.

My pre-poo consists of aloe vera slices like the picture seen here and Earthy Goddess's dual hair/body oil.

First, I take the aloe vera and cut slices like seen in the above picture. Cut off the sharp edges then slice down the middle.

Second, part your hair into 8 or more equal sections. You need to be able to even rub in and finger detangle/comb through all of your hair. Trust me, you and your hair will thank me.

Third, take the aloe slices and rub the gel like substance onto your parted scalp. Of those 8 or more sections you parted, separate the hair throughout and apply the aloe to the scalp. Be generous.* Rub into scalp. Apply hair oil to scalp and on top of hair. Not a lot. And finger comb through. You should immediately notice the texture difference in your hair.

Last, Twist or braid it down and move on to the next section to repeat.

Put a shower cap on and leave it in for any desired amount of time you choose. It is safe to even sleep in overnight. I usually only have time for 2 hours at the most but have done longer and shorter.

Once you are satisfied with the amount of time left in, rinse thoroughly.**

Now here comes the most refreshing part.

Grab your Earthy Goddess African Black Soap Shampoo and apply directly into the scalp and work in to a lather. Give yourself a good head massage. Once lathered up, work the shampoo down to the strands of the hair. After completely washing your hair, rinse thoroughly. (I usually put sections back into the hair so that I can ensure it gets more onto the scalp first.)

You did it!!!

You will notice the soft clean feel to your cleansed and well hydrated hair.

*As you rub the aloe plant onto your scalp it can dry up. Just take your finger/nail and rub into it to release the remaining aloe. DO NOT continue to rub on dry. This can break hair strands.

**As you rinse your hair of the aloe, you will see aloe chunks coming out. This is of course, normal. Rinse thoroughly and do a comb through to ensure you have all of the aloe out of your hair.
